Quebec – Lithium & Gold
Musquaro Project
The Musquaro Project, acquired from legendary prospector Shawn Ryan in 2023, is located in southeast Quebec 60km northeast of the community of Natashquan. Targa owns a 100% in 75,415ha of mineral concessions at Musquaro spread across 3 blocks. Natashquan has a local port with ferry service and is connected by highway to the deep-water port town of Sept-Iles, making Musquaro ideally situated to provide resources for the North American and European markets.
The Musquaro claims were staked to cover dense concentrations of lake sediment samples that are highly anomalous for lithium, cesium and other Lithium-Cesium-Tantalum (“LCT”) pegmatite pathfinder elements. Of the lake sediment samples taken from within the western block at Musquaro, six contain lithium values that are in the 99th percentile of the extensive Quebec provincial database and 10 contain cesium values in the 99th percentile. The lake sediments suggest the local geology around the lakes is potentially enriched in these key LCT pathfinder elements.
Historical geological mapping around Musquaro Lake has also identified locations of pegmatite, though none of these occurrences have ever been sampled and analyzed for their potential LCT mineral content. Targa will be prioritizing these historical locations for follow-up sampling during the Phase 1 exploration program in June 2023.
In addition to significant numbers of historically mapped pegmatites and highly anomalous geochemistry, Musquaro hosts favourable geology with a pegmatite granite unit mapped under and around Musquaro Lake. Regional magnetic surveys and geological maps indicate fault structures within the western block that could serve as favourable pathways for pegmatite intrusion.
